Try the No1 Clubroom Airport Lounge Experience
This week our very own Director, Liz, tells us about her experience at the airport lounge, No1 Clubroom, in Gatwick’s South Terminal…
My partner and I checked into the No1 Clubroom, located in the South Terminal at Gatwick Airport, before our British Airways flight to Dalaman, Turkey. We have used the No1 Lounges before, and know they are good value, but this time decided to try the next step up.
The Clubroom at South Terminal is made up of four rooms, two of which have windows. We were shown to a table by a friendly staff member. The Clubrooms offer table service, unlike the other level of No1 Lounge available in Gatwick. There were two serving staff allocated to the area we were in, which could seat around 12 couples and a round group table that would seat 8-10 people. The seats are quite well spaced, so we did not feel crammed in. Some of the other rooms have fewer seats and can be pre-booked for a party travelling together.
As soon as we sat down, we could order drinks whilst perusing the menu. We chose Champagne of course, which was topped up throughout our stay, but there was also a good range of wines, beer, cider and spirits. There was also a trolley from which you could choose a daily newspaper or a magazine.
You can have a three-course meal here, or just a light plate such as cheese ploughman’s, a bacon roll, or salmon and mango salad. As it was lunchtime, we had the Moroccan chicken dish which was delicious, and then after a little rest, some apple pie and cream.
There is also an area where you can serve yourself soft drinks, speciality teas, hot chocolate and coffees, and try one of the tempting nibbles, like brownies and granola squares.
If you are looking for a bit of luxury for a special occasion, honeymoon, anniversary etc., or if you just feel like treating yourself because you’re worth it, then this is the place for you. And currently at just £40 per person, it’s a great deal! I would definitely recommend booking in advance, as it will be cheaper and you will be sure of a reserved table.
